USC Racing: Suspension and Data Acquisition

Ardalan Aryashad
USC Racing Team

Overview

I joined USC Racing in Fall 2024 as a suspension member and co-founded the DAQ effort in Fall 2025. My work spans hands-on chassis fabrication, suspension optimization, and building the data infrastructure and tools that make vehicle logs accessible and useful across subteams.

Suspension (Fall 2024)

I helped manufacture the rolling chassis by working on the lathe, welding, and assembling the suspension. In parallel, I ran an optimization study for grip using a quarter-car model and genetic algorithm tuning to balance road contact and ride dynamics.

DAQ (Fall 2025)

Co-founded the DAQ effort and designed, built, and tested a NAS system to improve workflow and accessibility of car log files across subteams. I created multiple telemetry and data analysis pages in MoTeC i2 for different teams, and developed a web application to record setup sheets and inject the values into i2 and log files for post-test analysis and long-term evaluation.
